Spend an afternoon with acclaimed artist and curator Dyani White Hawk (Sičáŋǧu Lakota) as she discusses her expansive artistic practice, which explores abstraction, contemporary issues, Indigenous languages, and traditional techniques. Learn about her art and process and find out how the strength of Indigenous women—in her own family and beyond—has guided her in creating works like the Takes Care of Them (2019) suite, from the MFA’s collection.
White Hawk won a United States Artist Fellowship Award in 2019 and an Anonymous Was a Woman award in 2021. She is currently based in Minneapolis.
