The Making of “Exchange Codes”

Students from the Museum’s ten Community Arts Initiative partners collaborated with artist Sarah Pollman to create a large, wall-hung relief sculpture on view in “Exchange Codes,” November 11, 2020–April 11, 2021. The sculpture charts global exchange pathways of the goods, services, and ideas of artists. Led by Pollman, the young artists closely observed artworks in the MFA’s collections and then made the sculpture’s component parts, which join together to form a new whole that imagines an interconnected world.

Enjoy this video of the young artists as they journey through the Museum and create, to the sounds of "I'm Not Ready" and "Off the Top"  by the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club.
