Students from the Museum’s ten Community Arts Initiative partners along with artist Maria Molteni created “Second Hands,” on view from May 14 to October 16, 2016.
In “Second Hands,” the MFA’s 11th Artist Project funded by the Linde Family Foundation, students examined second-hand garments to find where they were made. They explored art at the MFA made in those same countries and, inspired by the artwork, designed and printed their own patterns. The quilts on view were designed and sewn by Molteni from the students’ fabrics.
