Meet the 2016 Steering Committee

John O’Leary, Chair

John has been a member of the Museum Council for six years and of its Steering Committee for four. Most recently, he and Fiona Benenson led the Museum Council’s Special Exhibition Fund effort, and he has also participated in the MFA’s Art of Europe and Musical Instruments Visiting Committees, Development Committee, Communications and Marketing Committee, and Board of Overseers. Outside the Museum, John is a portfolio manager at Acadian Asset Management and a PhD student in statistics. The Museum Council has been an important part of John’s life in Boston, and he is very excited to begin his term as chair this season.

Erika Gorman, Vice Chair Events

Erika Gorman has been a member of Museum Council since 2008 and is in her third year serving on the Steering Committee. Her biggest goal as vice chair of Events this year is to ensure that members walk away from each event feeling they are informed and passionate ambassadors for the Museum. Erika works as a structural engineer in Ports and Maritime and is grateful to have Museum Council as an outlet completely outside her own field. She is continually amazed by our diverse membership and is so appreciative of the opportunity to learn from and support the MFA together as a member of the Museum Council.

Hadley Powell, Vice Chair Membership

Hadley Powell is in her third year as a member of the Museum Council Steering Committee, after moving from New York City in 2013. Formerly a Fine Art specialist at Christie’s, she now works for the online auction marketplace, Invaluable. She is also a private art advisor in Boston.

The Museum Council continues to introduce her to a network of fellow art enthusiasts and provides opportunities to learn from some of the best scholars in their fields.

Ken Bonanno, Vice Chair Development

Ken Bonanno is in his fifth year as a member of the Museum Council Steering Committee. During his tenure he has served as a Summer Party committee member, Membership Steering Committee member, and most recently the vice-chair of Membership; he is thrilled to now be taking on the role as vice-chair of Development. Prior to joining the council, he was one of the founders and past president of the Boston chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. He is an avid collector of contemporary art and photography.

Elizabeth Dunne Marcoulier, Co-Chair—Family Initiative

Elizabeth has been on the Museum Council for almost eight years. Looking to get more involved, she joined the Museum Council Steering Committee in 2012, and has since served as vice-chair of Events and co-chair of the Summer Party for the past three years. She has now stepped up to the role of Family Initiatives co-chair. As an architect and interior designer, she has a passion for all things art and design, and finds the many facets of the MFA’s collection to be very inspiring.

Garrett Broadrup, Co-Chair—Family Initiative

A member of the Museum Council for six years, Garrett begins his third year on the Museum Council Steering Committee serving as the Family Initiatives co-chair. An investment management lawyer by trade, Garrett enjoys collecting contemporary portrait photography and, not coincidentally, belongs to the MFA's Friends of Photography.
