Museum Council Events Update

Museum Council

The Museum Council Events Season officially began with our signature Kick-Off Party on September 20. Members and friends enjoyed a cocktail party in Bravo and a choice of 9 different curator lectures. We are so pleased to welcome 30 new members who joined Museum Council that evening. Do you have friends who are interested in Museum Council? Consider bringing them to our next meet-up event!

If you are not yet familiar, meet-ups are separate event invitations to experience art around the city in more social casual settings. You need to sign up for meet-up invites.

Current members of the Museum Council can receive invitations and RSVP for specific Meet-Ups by joining the MFA Boston Museum Council Meet-Up group. Include your full name and Museum Council membership ID number in the comments section when sending your request to join the Meet-Up group. You can also contact the Museum Council office for more information on the next Meet-Up at museumcouncil@mfa.org or 617-369-3268.

Some of our upcoming meet-ups include:

  • November 4 gallery walk through SOWA First Fridays.
  • December 9 late-night meet-up for the final MFA Overnight.

We are always planning more, so be sure to sign up for the email alerts!

In addition to meet-ups, our members can look forward to a wide variety of events planned for late this fall:

  • November 16 is a preview evening for the SMFA Art Sale featuring art by the undergraduates, graduates, faculty and affiliated artists with prices starting under $100. This could be your chance to scope out the next Ellsworth Kelly (or purchase an actual Ellsworth Kelly piece)
  • November 19 is the highly anticipated New England Art Tour, a day trip through the North Shore of Massachusetts. Visit the Montserrat College of Art, Peabody Essex Museum, and Addison Gallery of Art, and enjoy a live performance while on the journey. The day concludes with a wine reception at the “Artist Apartment” of Philips Academy- an amazing livable loft designed by David Ireland, and a space rarely seen by the public.

We hope to see you there!
