New York City and the AIPAD Photography Show

April 5–6, 2019

For Museum Council Fellows and Patrons

  • Led by one of the MFA’s newest curators, Akili Tommasino, associate curator, Modern and Contemporary Art.
  • VIP access to the AIPAD Photography Show with three MFA curators: Anne Havinga, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Chair of Photography; Karen Haas, Lane Curator of Photographs; and Kristen Gresh, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Curator of Photographs.

  • Led by Katie Hanson, associate curator, Paintings, Art of Europe.
  • Explore the Impressionist and European collections at the Art Institute of Chicago with Katie and her peers at AIC: Gloria Groom, chair, European Painting and Sculpture; and Rebecca Long, Patrick G. and Shirley W. Ryan Associate Curator in the Department of Medieval to Modern European Painting and Sculpture.
  • Behind-the-scenes tour of the Terra Foundation for American Art, with an inside look at how the foundation generates loans and funding for large-scale exhibitions around the world.
  • Excursion to Oak Park, west of downtown Chicago, to visit the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio and tour this classic American neighborhood, the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway.
  • Sample Chicago’s dynamic culinary scene.
  • Embark on tours of the architectural highlights and public artworks of this exhilarating city.
