Drums, bells, shakers, and scrapers! “Fascinating Rhythms” is a solo interactive performance by percussionist and performer Cornell Coley. Using drums and percussion instruments from the African diaspora—particularly from the United States, Brazil, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, and Mali—Coley creates layered, compelling, and irresistible music. Learn about the cultures Coley presents and the instruments he performs while getting “hands on” and joining him in making music.

Cornell Coley is an award-winning public performance artist whose work spans production, performance, community development, education, and health. His major cultural influences include the drum and dance traditions of West and Central Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil, and the United States. He founded and directs the Afrika Gente Music Project, a collaborative that includes top local musicians and performing artists in other genres.
