The MFA’s Musical Instruments and Conservation and Scientific Research departments, in partnership with MIT, received a grant to pioneer a new methodology for the analysis of musical instruments. As a result, conservators and curators now use a CT scanner to study the internal structure, fabrication, and condition of instruments in the collection. Learn about discoveries made with this powerful tool and how this technology allows us to hear instruments deemed no longer playable.
Co-organized by the Conservation and Collections and Musical Instruments Curators Circles.
This program is scheduled to be an in-person event, however, details may be subject to change.
