Drop-In Art Making: Ex-Votos, Paintings that Tell a Story

10 am–4 pm (last entry 3:45 pm)
Shapiro Family Courtyard

Ex-voto paintings, often created on tin or found materials, express thanks for answered prayers or show, using words as well as images, something amazing or unexplainable that happened to someone. Taking inspiration from ex-voto paintings on view in gallery 336 of the Art of the Americas Wing, use paint, markers, and mixed media to create your own work of art that shares a story!

Story Hour: Drum Dream Girl

11 am and 1 pm
Druker Family Pavilion, Room 156

In a special story hour featuring Drum Dream Girl by Margarita Engle, learn the true story of how a brave girl became one of the first female drummers in Cuba. Then explore real drums and other instruments to make your own music.
