"SMFA Traveling Scholars" in the Foster Gallery presents recent work by five graduates of the School. All are working in a strong, individual style that is continually evolving.
Bethany Bristow is a tourist memorializing her travels in emotional self-portraits. N. Sean Glover creates a universe inspired by the thinking of seventeenth-century astronomer Thomas Wright, further developed by Immanuel Kant. Audrey Goldstein makes complex devices that suggest a resolution of the mind–body relationship. Aric Mannion is on a quest to illustrate the sublime as H. G. Wells's Dr. Moreau wanted to live it. And Asuka Ohsawa creates seductively charming images that mix black humor with social commentary.
