Welcome Letter from Joy Kant

Patron Program Committee

What a spring it has been at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston! On behalf of all of us on the Patron Program Committee, I want to thank you for your dedication and commitment to the MFA.

Patron support touches every aspect of the Museum. This season your donations helped the MFA mount displays from the collection, create a new Monet gallery, and offer public programs including those that focused on “Megacities Asia.”

As the spring draws to a close and summer begins, mark your calendars for the upcoming exhibition “Della Robbia: Sculpting with Color in Renaissance Florence,” which opens in early August. The driving force behind this groundbreaking exhibition, Marietta Cambareri, Curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture and Jetskalina H. Phillips Curator of Judaica, Art of Europe, is profiled in this month’s issue.

If you were unable to attend some of the Patron events this season or partake in the travel opportunities offered by the MFA, I hope you will enjoy the travelogue penned by fellow Patrons Peter and Ellen Fallon on the April Patron trip to Los Angeles with Ronni Baer, William and Ann Elfers Senior Curator of Paintings, Art of Europe. Photographs from many of the events can be found throughout the newsletter.

Lastly, if you haven’t yet renewed your Patron support, I would be remiss not to point out that the MFA’s fiscal year ends on June 30. To make your year-end gift, please contact the Patron office at 617-369-3211 or visit Patron Program.

I look forward to seeing you at the MFA in the fall for a whole new season of thought-provoking and enriching evenings together. Here are a few highlights: an All Patron Event on Tuesday, September 13, that features new installations in the Art of the Americas Wing and in the Henry and Lois Foster Gallery; a private tour of “Della Robbia” and an Italian-inspired dinner for Patron Fellows; and a Saturday night All Patron Opening on October 1 for “William Merritt Chase.” For additional dates, please refer to the list of Patron Events in this newsletter.

See you in September, if not before then.

All the best,

Joy Kant
Chair, Patron Program Committee
