From buffalo milk to sheep dung and all the magic in between, explore techniques used in the 18th-century hand-drawn, mordant-painted, and resist dyed Indian chintz from modern artist Renuka Reddy, founder of RedTree Textile Studio in Bangalore. Reddy experiments continually, searching for the perfect combination of cloth, milk, mordants, dung, dyes, and resists that made chintz one of India’s most important art forms centuries ago. Inspired by traditional designs, her work reflects centuries of refinement—“a conversation between cultures across continents that forever globalized textile design.”
