Artful Adventures offers specially designed in-person home school classes for kids and teens. Taught by trained Museum educators, these age-appropriate programs last two hours, include a pre-tour activity, gallery exploration, and a related art lesson. Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up.

Get inspiration for your own book cover while taking a closer look at the intricate designs found in artwork from the Museum’s collection. Then make the cover for your own book using cardboard, fabric, and colorful paper.
December 9, 2021—All About Books: Collage Illustrations
Collage has been used by artists for centuries to express themselves. It is a composition made of many materials such as paper, cloth, and photographs glued to a surface to create a complete picture. Take a closer look at some of Euka Holmes’ artwork and other examples from the Museum’s collections. Then create a colorful collage illustration for your book.
December 16, 2021—All About Books: Printmaking
What is a print? The invention of the printing press made it possible for more books to be made than ever before. Discover how artists have used this art form to create multiple copies of their work then design and create your own print.
January 6, 2022—All About Books: Sketching
Walk through the Museum in search of artwork to draw while learning some key sketching tips and techniques. Then try it out in your book!

Each four-session ticket package must be purchased in advance, and is only available for sale online until noon on the Monday before the first session.
Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up. Supplies are provided.
We regret that there is no make-up, refund, or rescheduling for classes missed by a child, even those due to inclement weather. Refunds are given only if the class is cancelled by the MFA.
