We are pleased to continue our special partnership with the MFA that honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and a commitment to our diverse communities in Boston, with this exhibition, Paper Stories, Layered Dreams: The Art of Ekua Holmes, celebrating an important local artist. Ekua Holmes (born 1955) is an artist, community activist and lifelong resident of Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood whose body of work explores themes of childhood, family bonds, memory and resilience.
Citizens has been a longtime partner of the MFA, providing free access for visitors throughout the Commonwealth to explore special events and programs at the Museum that celebrate community. In January 2022, we will celebrate our 20th year as the lead sponsor of the MFA’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Celebration, a day rich in culture and activities for all ages.
Citizens believes in a world where everyone feels respected, valued and heard. A core part of our Credo is to ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace, and foster social and economic equality where everyone can thrive and reach their true potential. We drive real and lasting change through a variety of actions, including support of this important exhibit by our neighbor Ekua Holmes, which amplifies her distinctive vision and commitment to Black imagery. It is our hope that through her work, we can continue this important conversation.
Please enjoy the Ekua Holmes exhibition and all that the MFA has to offer.
