Visit the MFA on Friday, July 20 to enjoy free admission during our 10th annual Highland Street Foundation Free Fun Friday! Participate in hands-on art-making activities, join engaging tours, and see thought-provoking exhibitions—all for free.
Check out this year’s Community Arts Initiative Artist Project “Endless Feast,” a collaborative work of art created by 175 students from Boston neighborhoods. And don’t miss “French Pastels: Treasures from the Vault” to view works rarely exhibited.
Art Making Activities

Drop in to create a nature-inspired pastel.

Paint a watercolor inspired by the summer season.

The Family Art Cart is available in July and August on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 am–4 pm and starting September on Saturdays and Sundays 10 am–4 pm.

Discover how artists turn a blank canvas into a finished pastel or painting. Explore the tools and materials that artists use. Ask questions and discuss techniques.

Explore the tools, handle materials, and view demonstration pieces that reveal the step-by-step process that artists use to transform a block of stone into a sculpture. Ask questions and discuss techniques.

Rent a mobile MFA Guide to explore the Museum’s encyclopedic collection, including a Kids’ tour introducing young visitors age 6 to 10 to the Art of the Americas collections.

Please note: Please note, from 10 am-4 pm valet parking will be located at the Fenway Entrance and will resume at 4 pm at the Huntington Avenue Entrance. There will be no bus parking on July 20.
