The Boston Turkish Film Festival and the MFA celebrate the 25th anniversary of their long-running collaboration, continuing a shared commitment to showcasing both emerging and established voices in Turkish cinema.
This year’s festival, which takes place at the MFA and the Goethe-Institut Boston, opens with Amrum, Fatih Akin’s historical drama cowritten with Hark Bohm, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Prior to the screening, acclaimed pianist Hyun Sook Tekin will give a special performance celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Boston Turkish Film Festival. Other highlights include the North American premiere of Tayfun Pirselimoğlu’s surrealist noir Idea; and Apollon by Day Athena by Night, the award-winning directorial debut of Emine Yıldırım. Minus One and Garan, winners of the Boston Turkish Festival’s Short Film Competition also screen.
