Linda Nochlin, whose writings remain a touchstone of feminist art history, posed several times with her daughter for Alice Neel’s 1973 portrait Linda Nochlin and Daisy, a work in “Women Take the Floor.” Nochlin discusses the experience of sitting for Neel, who told stories as she worked, and explains how Neel’s work captures her larger worldview.
