The Story of the French Salon

In this seven-minute video, Courtney Harris, assistant curator of Decorative Arts and Sculpture, Art of Europe, tells the fascinating story of MFA Boston’s French Salon Gallery. Parts of the period room, which has been in the Museum’s collection for nearly one hundred years, date back to 18th-century France, but other parts come from 20th-century New York—an stunning discovery that wasn’t brought to light until 2018.
