Directed by Carol Mansour (Lebanon, 2023, 75 min.). Arabic, English, and French with English subtitles.
This documentary follows filmmaker Carol Mansour’s multifaceted journey of memory, loss, and return. Monsur’s mother, Aida, struggles with Alzheimer’s and often retreats to memories of her childhood home in Yafa, Palestine. After Aida’s passing, Mansour enlists friends in Beirut to help return her mother’s ashes to Yafa. This intimate film captures the efforts of a diverse group of friends and strangers who come together to complete this deeply personal yet universal journey, serving as both a tribute to the lost past of the director’s family and a nod to the exiled Palestinians denied the right to return home, even in death.
