Directed by Cem Kaya (Germany, 2022, 95 min.). German and Turkish with English subtitles.

Love, Deutschmarks and Death is a documentary film about the independent and as of yet unknown music of Turkish emigrant guest workers and their grandchildren in Germany. In a musical and essayistic form, Cem Kaya shares insights into the unique liveliness of this forgotten subculture.

Copresented with the Goethe-Institut Boston.

Winner of Panorama Audience Award at the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival.

The opening credits of this film have a strobing effect that may affect photosensitive viewers.
