Directed by Guillermo del Toro (Mexico and Spain, 2006, 118 mins.). Spanish with English subtitles.
In 1944, as the shadow of World War II settles over the Spanish countryside, a young girl named Ofelia must come to terms with the cruelty around her. Living with her mother and adoptive father—a brutal military officer under the fascist Franco government—Ofelia is haunted by fantasies that merge with reality, giving birth to a land of bizarre creatures and dark destinies. From the minds of acclaimed director Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Best Picture winner at the 90th Academy Awards; 2022’s stop-motion animated Pinocchio) and producer Alfonso Cuarón (Roma; Gravity), Pan’s Labyrinth is a phantasmagoric journey for only the bravest of hearts. Co-presented with Cinefest Latino.
