This film tells the story of Joan Little, a Black incarcerated woman in North Carolina who killed a white prison guard attempting to rape her. The resulting landmark case in 1975 marked the first time in US history a woman was acquitted for using deadly force to resist sexual assault.
And Again I Dream
Directed by Catherine Gund and Mariah Norman (USA, 2026, 39 min.).
Through the life and legacy of Black lesbian journalist and organizer Ivy Young (1947–2023), this film explores how personal storytelling can resist erasure and foster resilience, compassion, and collective care.
She Dared to Dream
Directed by Abby Ginzberg (USA, 2025, 28 min.).
A portrait of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, a leading voice in reproductive rights, criminal justice reform, and economic justice. An activist committed to the principle that “those closest to the pain should be closest to the power,” Pressley has served in a way that reflects both her lived experience and a broader vision for structural change.
