The MFA houses the world’s largest collection of watercolors in the world by Boston-born Artist Winslow Homer, who transformed the medium through his relentless spirit of experimentation. The artist’s luminous views transport visitors to the rugged Maine coast, the Adirondack Mountains, seaside England, sun-drenched Caribbean waters, and beyond.
Celebrate the special exhibition “Of Light and Air: Winslow Homer in Watercolor,” which brings together dozens of these fragile works for the first time in nearly half a century, during a festive evening of refreshments and conversations with fellow members. Hear from and explore not only Homer’s watercolors, but a selection of his related prints, oils, and drawings, with Ethan Lasser, John Moors Cabot Chair, Art of the Americas.
