Internationally recognized for her video installations that develop from drawings evoking traditional Japanese woodblock prints, Tabaimo offers a surreal and sometimes disturbing vision of contemporary Japanese society. In conversation with an MFA curator and the independent scholar Reiko Tomii, the artist discusses her highly personal approach to image making in projects that have ranged from her Teleco-Soup, presented at the 2011 Venice Biennale, to her more recent performance collaborations with choreographers and circus artist Jörg Müller.
