“Rachel Ruysch: Artist, Naturalist, and Pioneer” brings together 35 of the Dutch artist’s finest paintings from museums and private lenders across the US and Europe. Visitors can explore Ruysch’s lively and scientifically accurate floral still lifes, as well as works by other female artists, including Maria Sibylla Merian, Alisa Withoos, and Ruysch’s sister, Anna.
Join Antien Knaap, Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Curator of Paintings, to celebrate the beauty of Ruysch’s work, gain insight into the central role women played in the production of scientific knowledge in 17th- and 18th-century Europe, and discover the hidden stories woven within their art.
