“Renoir and Love” focuses on a period between the mid-1860s and mid-1880s, when a young Renoir explored various sites and scenarios for expression of fond feelings and social interactions in what have come to be regarded as undoubtedly his greatest works.
Join Katie Hanson, William and Ann Elfers Curator of Paintings, Art of Europe, as she dives deeper into the MFA’s first solo Renoir exhibition since 1985—introducing a new generation of visitors to an artist finely attuned to the complexities, subtleties, and intriguing ambiguities that animate relationships between people and the spaces they inhabit.
