Directed by Travis Knight (UK and USA, 2016, 102 min.).

Kubo, a one-eyed boy with a gift for bringing his origami creations to life, lives quietly in a seaside village with his mother until a malevolent spirit from his past forces him to flee. Joined by a talking monkey and a beetle warrior, Kubo sets out on a quest to find his father’s enchanted armor and unlock the secrets of his lineage.

Created by Laika Studios, the team behind Coraline (2009) and ParaNorman (2012), and nominated for Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Visual Effects, the film is celebrated for its breathtaking stop-motion animation and emotional depth.

“A dazzling artistic leap forward for Laika.…an eye-popping delight that deftly blends colorful folklore with gorgeous, origami-informed visuals to immersive effect.” —Hollywood Reporter
