Directed by Hikmet Kerem Özcan (Türkiye, 2024, 94 min.). Turkish with English subtitles. Director present.
Set in a historic Aegean village, Hakkı follows its eponymous protagonist, a modest middle-aged souvenir seller and part-time tour guide of ancient temple ruins. Although his family longs for the wealth that tourism promises, Hakkı is content with his simple life—until he stumbles on a valuable ancient artifact in his own garden. What begins as an unexpected stroke of luck soon turns into an all-consuming obsession. Driven by greed, he abandons his work and family, relentlessly digging for more treasures. As his fixation deepens, so does the darkness within him, threatening to destroy everything he holds dear.
