The Future Is Now: Summer 2015 Campaign Update

Campaign Update—Summer 2015

Having concluded the second year of the MFA’s The Future Is Now Campaign, we are delighted to share that as of July 2015 we have raised $142 million. We are very pleased with our progress and excited to build upon this momentum as we move closer to our overall Campaign goal of $200 million.

Support for The Future Is Now has come from across the MFA family and we are deeply grateful for this tremendous show of generosity and commitment. We invite you to browse through gift highlights using the links below and discover the many ways in which our supporters have participated in the Campaign since its start in July 2013.

A summary of our progress in the five priority areas of The Future Is Now follows.

Net Endowment

$130 million goal

Increasing the net impact of the endowment through a combination of budget-relieving and financially stabilizing gifts will ensure the strongest possible foundation for the MFA for the future, and secure the long-term stability of successful programs and critical staff positions.

Gallery Renewal

$20 million goal

Our goal is to bring all of the Museum’s galleries and public spaces to the high standards set by recent gallery renovations, the Linde Family Wing for Contemporary Art, and the Art of the Americas Wing.

School of the Museum of Fine Arts

$10 million goal

During the transformation of the SMFA into an independently accredited college, increased endowment, along with unrestricted and current-use gifts, will support financial aid, campus renovation, and other strategic initiatives, assuring the future success of students as creative leaders in a global community.

New Investments

$15 million goal

The MFA aims to make new investments in strategically important areas, focusing on the development of new programs and the use of technology to enrich the visitor experience.

Annual Support

$25 million goal

Annual support provided through the Patron Program, Museum Council, Corporate Membership, SMFA Medici, and other forms of current-use funding is critical to the operations of the Museum and the School, and included in The Future Is Now. While we are excited to have exceeded our goal for this segment, we look forward to raising more support for the MFA’s and SMFA’s annual programs through the end of the Campaign and beyond!

Recent Gift Highlights

As we invest together in the future of the MFA, we remain immensely thankful to Malcolm Rogers, Ann and Graham Gund Director, for his visionary leadership of this institution for the past two decades. Throughout his tenure, Malcolm has inspired us to new heights of achievement, transforming the MFA into one of the world’s greatest museums and making it a resource for everyone in our community.

We bid farewell to Malcolm this month, but are thrilled to welcome Matthew Teitelbaum as the next Ann and Graham Gund Director of the Museum on August 3. Matthew is a highly respected and devoted champion of the arts, and is eager to build upon Malcolm’s success. There can surely be no better time to support the Campaign as Matthew leads the MFA into the future.

Thank you, once again, for your continued support of the Museum.
